The Centre for Social Research and Evaluation at YMCA George Williams College specialises in research and evaluation projects that are relevant to policy and practice relating to young people, families and communities. The research conducted by the Centre includes academic research projects, policy and practice evaluations, educational studies and community audits. We also deliver training and consultation to community organisations who wish to conduct their own evaluation or action research projects.
Some of our research involves conducting the entire project for an organisation. However, the approach we often adopt involves working alongside an organisation to support them as active agents in their own research or evaluation projects. This is particularly effective for organisations or projects with a small budget for their study as they can commission us to support them in developing the research framework, analysing the data and writing reports whilst actually undertaking the research for themselves.
Outputs from our research have included practitioner-friendly reports, academic papers, conferences and seminar presentations.
